Leon Awerbuch has been involved in the desalination industry for more than 35 years. He joined Bechtel Group in 1972 in R&D followed by increased responsibilities for power and water programs as International Bechtel Co. Ltd Vice President and Senior Regional Representative for the Middle East. During his 35-year career with Bechtel, he oversaw desalination programs involved in R&D, design and engineering as well as EPC of desalination and power projects. Leon was involved in providing technical and commercial consultancy to number of leading suppliers and utilities covering Reverse Osmosis and Thermal Desalination and Power Projects as well as assessment of new desalination technologiesMr. Awerbuch was one of the early pioneers in Hybrid Power-Desalination concepts, Desalination Aquifer Storage and Recovery (DASR) and Hybrid MSF-MED. Mr. Awerbuch is a Past President of IDA and was Chairman of six IDA World Congresses. He currently serves as a Director of the Association and has been a Chairman of IDA’s Technical Programs for the past 20 years.
As such, he has organized and chaired over 40 conferences, forums, seminars and workshops around the world. He was First Vice President and Director of the National Water Supply Improvement Association (NWSIA) and the American Desalination Association (ADA). Mr. Awerbuch holds 28 patents and has published over 90 technical papers. He received a Lifetime Achievement Award from IDA at the 2007 World Congress in Grand Canarias and Life Achievement at the Inaugural Power Generation and Water Solutions Middle East Awards October 2009. In January 2015 Leon Awerbuch was voted one of Water & Wastewater International’s top 25 industry leaders.

Mr. Stefano Detassis is a consultant on multidisciplinary projects management, having 20 years of project and construction management experience in various projects including Desalination, Solar PV, Wind Energy and Waste Management Systems. Past experiences include Owner’s Engineer as well as EPC side. He has a background in Environmental Engineering and particular interest and exposure on Renewable Energies.
Stefano has been the project manager for the Red Sea Water island which includes 30,000 renewable energy driven SWRO plant plus 2 remover small SWRO one STP of the same size and ancillary networks
Mr. Rosario Blasetti Engineering Manager
Rosario Blasetti is a Chemical Engineer with a Master Degree in Chemical Process Engineering and a Master Degree in Water Treatment Engineering with over 13 years of experience.
He worked in reputed engineering consultancy firm as Senior Process Engineer and Project Manager in the Water Treatment field, as well as Power Generation field, with a wide experience in Middle East, China, Singapore, South America.
He has 3 years of experience as Engineering Manager for an EPC firm, with the role of responsible of the design of a Desalination Plant and coordinate more than 50 engineers located in India, Spain, Oman and Kuwait.
He has gained experience and knowledge in design, project execution, procurement and mostly in commissioning. Besides, he gained 2 years of experience in Aerospace as Material Engineer at Satellite Factory, working for European Space Agency.
Mr. Venkatesh Ramachandran Project Manager
Venkatesh Ramachandran is a Mechanical Engineer with over 27 years of cross-cultural experience in the areas of Project Management and Design Engineering and Consulting.Venkatesh Ramachandran has experience in engineering and project management of large power (CCGT and other) and desalination (thermal, hybrid and reverse osmosis)plants together with proven abilities in maintaining balance of plant and water treatment / sewage.
After serving in the UAE for 20 years with Mott McDonald and PB Venkatesh gained basic and detailed design knowledge thorough several project assignments and on site in the Middle East in the power generation and desalination industry. He has experience in conducting design reviews/feasibility studies/plant life assessment studies, witnessing performance tests, preparing tender documents and handling site management assignments in the region.
Capable of conducting power generation requirement assessment, market survey, generation option assessment (including renewable energy) and site visits. Has the ability to oversee project activities from conceptualization to execution including technical specifications, stage inspections, progress monitoring, site management and manpower planning.
Mr. Adriano Santeusanio Scheduler/Planning Manager
Adriano Santeusanio is a consultant with an International reputation in the field of renewable energy, the resources industry, power generation, water value chain, and sustainability.
He has covered several Project Director and managers positions in EPC contractor and Exploration and Production Oil & gas leader companies for the last 15 years where he delivered MEga and LArge projects to completion in the GCC and far east Asia in the field of LNG, power, renewable energy, and wastewater.
Mr.Santeusanio has been involved in process development, system design, project execution, plant operation, and maintenance of large, Industrial plants in Europe and the Middle East, Australia, and far east Asia since 2009.
Engaged with SWPC since 2020 Adriano has been leading several studies an importantly the Study Of Standardization And Consolidation Of Technical Specifications In The Water Sector “ commissioned by MEWA to SWPC in 2022.
Mr. Ehab Shaat Project Manager
Mr. Ehab Shaat has been enrolled with SWPC from the start, gaining vast experience from the multiple project executed varying from detailed engineering to project management. He has been involved in all major projects as senor coordinator initially and project manager . Skills obtained on various projects covering the desalination , wastewater, and power sectors.
